What other job do lets you meet people from all over the world, live in your favorite city, and have fun doing something useful? I couldn’t be happier than I am teaching English. In particular, I have strong feelings for EC Boston because working here means being part of a community. Teaching is a
team effort, so several teachers work together to monitor each student's progress and look out for his or her interests. The teachers care about each other and about their students, which creates a dynamic where the students care about us too. It's a safe and special environment to take a leap into a new language and a new culture. As a teacher, it is my privilege to get to know the individuals who come to Boston from all over the world and from all walks of life. I love watching students improve, and helping them navigate the learning process. Boston is a small, beautiful city, filled with famous Universities, constantly changing weather and smart, friendly people. It is the perfect setting for learning, exploring and making your new, or temporary, home.

Step outside your box! It is exciting and a bit scary to start somewhere new. You know how to study, and we’ll be helping you learn, but it's up to you to explore in your free time, and seek out new experiences. Look for opportunities to meet locals, and even if you don’t make friends immediately, you
still used your English in the process! The more you open up and get used to starting, the easier it will become. This also means stepping outside of the comfort zone of spending time with people who speak your native language. Make plans with other students in the class who don’t speak your mother tongue.
Before you know it, you'll be speaking English without even trying and out enjoying Boston. Nothing is a better motivator than needing to communicate so you can enjoy and understand a friend.

It's inspiring to see people who are passionate for learning about a new language and culture. I enjoy my student's enthusiasm for learning and nothing pleases me more than seeing a student grow towards developing their skills and achieving their goals.
I have lived in many different parts of the United States and I can easily say that Boston is my favorite place of all. It’s an exciting, international city in a beautiful part of New England, surrounded by gorgeous natural beauty and diverse cultural attractions.
EC Boston couldn't be set in a more beautiful part of the city. The dynamic, interactive and friendly atmosphere at this school is a unique experience that any language learner appreciates.

Use media to assist you in developing a more solid vocabulary and to completely envelope yourself in the language throughout your day. When you wake up in the morning and as you get ready for your day, listen live to National Public Radio on wbur.org for current events, local news and weather. Pick up a local
newspaper once a week to catch up on what's happening around the world. The more fully you immerse yourself, the faster you will learn.

Boston is a great city to learn English in, and a great city to teach in! I love the restaurants, the culture, the music scene -- even the weather, believe it or not. Fall in New England is my favorite season, but they all have their perks. The best thing about working for EC Boston is meeting so many interesting people from all over the world; it's like taking a trip around the world without leaving home! Every week we have new students coming in, new experiences, and new opportunities for our students and teachers to learn about each others' countries and cultures. The city itself is like a classroom, with so much American history taking place right nearby, so teachers can take students to visit Boston's historic neighborhoods, as well as places that played a role in the birth of America. The activities the teachers run, like visiting a haunted house, going Whale-Watching, and playing Frisbee on the Boston Common, also involve students in the places and traditions that make Boston special. Although I love Boston, I've taught in some other places too; Arizona, Mexico and Romania. I like teaching every kind of course, from Elementary all the way up through Proficient, test prep, and teacher training. If there's something English-related to teach, and a student who wants to learn it, I'm there!

Get double the benefit from watching English DVDs; turn on the English subtitles! With the subtitles on you can see how words are spelled as well as hear them, so you won't have trouble with the "interesting" spelling rules of English. Plus, using the subtitles lets you watch movies that would normally be above your level -- so you can learn advanced grammar and vocabulary even faster!

I discovered the joy of teaching and satisfaction of watching students progress toward their goals when I tutored middle school students in math and science at Balfour Academy while attending graduate school at Northeastern. Sharing my knowledge of math and test-taking skills with GRE and GMAT students is a natural progression of my first tutoring experience. There's no dearth of opportunities in Boston, and as a film-lover, I enjoy the multitude of independent film theaters in the Boston area. The diversity of international students, the opportunity to learn from them and the professionalism of my colleagues. I like challenges and learning opportunities in life, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge and skills with others.

Do everything twice! Read articles twice, rewrite journal entries or essays, and say things again, even if you know you said it right the first time. If you can, watch every TV show or film two times, once with subtitles, once without. I recommend watching episodes of Friends; they're short and the characters use common words and expressions.
