Your Arrival in Cape Town
Airport Transfers
Travel time from the airport to the school is approximately 20 minutes, but can take up to an hour if you are caught in rush hour traffic. EC Cape Town can organise your transfer. You will be met at the arrival gate by an EC representative with an EC sign. If you do not see the EC logo, please go to the Airport Information desk and call our emergency number which you will receive in your booking information.
How to get to school
On the first day, your host family will explain how to get to the EC school. They will show you the easiest route to get to the school. If you are staying in an EC residence, you will receive a welcome letter with directions and other useful information. Our Google map shows where EC Cape Town is located.

Placement Tests
Once you arrive at the school you will sit a placement test. This usually takes place at 9am, so please arrive at school by 8am on your first day. The placement test assesses your key language skills in all aspects of English (Reading, Speaking, Listening, and Written Comprehension) and helps us place you in the right group for your ability.
Welcome Talk
You will receive a Welcome Talk giving you details about your course and information that you will need throughout your stay. This will take place at 10:30am after your placement test.
Lessons
After your placement test and welcome talk, you will go into class for your first lesson. Your first lesson will start at 11am.
