La Jolla

EC San Diego couldn't be better located for shopping, lunch or dinner than on Prospect Street or the nearby Girard Avenue. If the million-dollar homes along the ocean weren't already a big clue, this is the place for the shopaholic with a bigger budget. Whether it's Armani, Saks, Polo, or Cartier, all the big name designer shops are here along with a myriad of boutiques. Plus, you get to smell the clean, fresh, sea air while you shop! Bliss!

If you are looking for a sophisticated souvenir, La Jolla is the best location in San Diego for Art Galleries. You will find all styles and tastes from artistic photography, contemporary art, the elegant & classic to the colorful & modern.

Alternatively, browse the books at the well renowned Warwicks bookstore. It stocks not only a large amount of books, but stationary items and books. Warwicks often holds events featuring famous authors. People often wait in line for hours to meet their favourite author and get their book signed.

Take a break from shopping while making the most of sunny days by walking the streets with a delicious Haagen-Dazs ice-cream or sit at an outside table of their Prospect street store and watch the shoppers glide by.

For the American shopping mall experience check out Westfield UTC. It's an open-air, 180 store mall with an ice-rink and a fabulous artisan chocolate shop (Chuao Chocolatier). It's conveniently located just east of La Jolla, near the San Diego campus of the University of California.

Downtown

Another huge mall for you to explore and blow your budget in is the Horton Plaza, located next to the historic Gaslamp Quarter in the centre of San Diego's downtown. Still in the mood to shop? Then cross over to the Gaslamp Quarter for over 100 retail businesses that will help your 'retail therapy' with their one-of- a- kind styles, unique designs, and specialty gifts. Here, amongst others, you will find Adidas Originals, G-star and Quicksilver.
