Want to improve your English at the same time as gaining some valuable work experience here in the UK?

EC is a busy English language school right in the centre of the beautiful university city of Cambridge. We are currently looking for an intern for approx 6 months (from October 2010) to carry out a range of administrative tasks as a valued member of our friendly customer-service team!

Although this is an unpaid position, we will provide you with accommodation (in a host family or student residence) for the duration of your internship, as well as a weekly bus pass for travel around the city.

A placement with EC is a great opportunity to meet lots of international friends, as well as get some English-language practice in a UK office environment . Send your CV now to sarahpaxton@ecenglish.com if you’re interested and would like to apply or find out more!

Meet our current interns and what they have to say about working at EC Cambridge English school

I did two internships for EC English each eight weeks. I’m really glad that I had the possibility to work for EC Cambridge because I worked in several places and learned a lot. When you work for EC Cambridge you work with friendly people who appreciate your help. I also like the fact that as an intern you are responsible for certain duties. Aside from improving my language skills I also got in touch with people from all over the world. I really enjoyed my internship in a lovely city like Cambridge!

I was an intern at EC Cambridge for three months, and I feel really lucky I was offered this internship. I worked in 2 different places, the main office and the Junior school. Both allowed me to acquire a lot of knowledge and to improve my English. The school staff made me feel very comfortable and their friendliness made my stay more than enjoyable. The advantage of working in a language school is that you are constantly surrounded by international students and I met people from all over the world who became my friends. I first came to EC as a student in 2008, and I also chose to apply for the internship because I loved the city. Granted, the weather is not always ideal, but no matter what it is like there is always something to do and the experience is worth it.

Next weeks activities!

As you may well know, learning the English Language, as with any Language, cannot purely be done in the classroom! Here at EC Cambridge we feel the best way to learn English, is to go to an English speaking country and take English Language Lessons so you can immerse yourself in the English culture and learn English outside the classroom!

Whatever your level, whether your learning English for the FCE, CAE, CPE or IELTS exams, whether your learning English as part of your job or for University, here at EC we like to aid you as much as possible!

Next week’s free activities are a great opportunity to meet other students and speak English together. Punting will continue next week weather permitting or you can take a walk up Castle Hill! Great St Mary’s is a big favourite as students get a fantastic view of Cambridge! And finally to mix it up, we have a visit to the Cambridge University Zoology Museum!

For the times and more information, pick up a program, available now from the computer room, common room and the academic office.

On the first Thursday of every month, EC Cambridge will be running a job club to assist our long term English Language Students with finding Employment locally.

The club will help you with many aspects of finding work, such as C.V workshops, interview skill workshops, access to relevant resources in the computer room and even assistance with obtaining a National Insurance Number.

Please remember that your student visa may prohibit/restrict your ability to work in the UK, so bring your passport and visa with you if you are unsure about this.
