As the Formula One season got underway in Australia last Sunday, halfway across the globe, a far more important race was taking place in Greenwich; the first ever EC London Karting event, featuring some of the finest drivers from around the world.
It was an exciting, competitive and hard-fought race, which kept the crowd on their feet throughout.

The Italian drivers dominated in qualifying and held the first 3 positions during the early stages of the race, but it was the only British driver who ultimately took the chequered flag, after a daring and audacious overtaking manoeuvre on the penultimate lap.

RACE RESULTS:
1st John Amato (GBR)
2nd Elena Frison (ITA)
3rd Alberto Scapin (ITA)

FASTEST LAP – Paolo Siclari (ITA)

Thanks to all drivers and spectators for making it such a great trip and I hope to see you again for the next race!

Special thanks to our photographer, Anton Petrukov, for taking and editing such excellent photos!

Last weekend EC London organised an amazing trip to the Royal Botanic Gardens, also known as Kew Gardens.

EC students met outside the school in Euston to spend half day visiting this amazing place. We arrived at Kew Gardens at 12pm and we walked until 4pm but we would have needed a whole day.

The tour started at Palm House where we could admire plants and trees from tropical Countries. We moved to the Princess of Wales Conservatory where we saw different type of orchids, water lilies, cacti, lithops and carnivorous plants. This conservatory was very colorful despite the cold weather outside. EC student walked through the Rock Garden and the Alpine House with his pyramid shape.

We stopped for some photos and rest a little bit before walking to the Temperate House and the Pagoda, where our trip ended. During our walk we could see the wooden installations of an English famous sculptor, David Nash. Before leaving Kew Gardens some EC students decided to have lunch at the café situated inside the Garden.

I went running in the area recently and ended up at the Granary Building in King’s Cross.

King’s Cross in the middle of regeneration and it’s an exciting place. It’s a cultural space, an academic space, and an exciting business space – all next to the peaceful and historic Regent’s Canal. It’s only a 10 minute walk from EC London via St Pancras and King’s Cross train stations.

There are multicoloured fountains, preserved railway lines, a fantastic restaurant, and interesting art installations inside the University of the Arts. You also get an unusual but very interesting perspective on the railway stations, with their ancient train sheds jutting out towards you.

Check it out at www.kingscross.co.uk- we’ll be running excursions there in the next few weeks as part of our social programme and as part of our running activities!

This is the official name for the Cable Car that crosses the River Thames, between The Royal Docks near Canning Town and the Greenwich Peninsula where the is the O2 Arena.

EC students met outside the school at 11am on Saturday 02nd March before going to take the Cable Car at Royal Victoria, near the docs.

Some students said that the Dogs of East London remind Netherlands cities.

Once arrived on the Greenwich Peninsula EC students went to have a delicious Brazilian lunch at Rodizio Rico inside the O2 Arena.

It was a lovely day and students enjoyed it a lot.
