Gozo Music Festival (22/08/09)
Gozo’s ‘most wanted’ festival is back for its 8th edition! This year’s event will be headlined by the biggest line-up ever to be presented on the island of Gozo and will surely be one of the top events of the year. This festival will definitely be a memorable night full of music, bringing the best selection from the past and the present, and it will be hosting two different stages each carrying a different genre of entertainment.

Join EC for this great musical night – Sign up now at the Reception!gmf

tobias-abstreiterTobias Abstreites, Swiss: I have been in EC Malta for 8 weeks, and I think it is a very good life experience and EC Malta offers a lot for students. There are many things to do. You can travel around the island and the nightlife is amazing! The school looks after the students very well and the programme they offer changes every week. I’m very lucky to have the teachers I do. They do their job very well. I like this kind of course as in the morning I have grammar and in the afternoon we get to read and speak. My best hang out in the evenings is definitely Hugo’s passion, and my favourite EC Activity is the Comino by night boat party and the gym. I lived with a host family in Pembroke – a very friendly family and the house is only 15 minutes away from the school. Two months here in Malta has been enough but I’d like to visit another EC school elsewhere. For future EC Students I would recommend that after school or at the weekend, they do a lot of travelling in Malta, as well as Gozo and Comino. Don’t stay at home in the evenings! Go out and meet people from all over the world!

EC Malta staff were treated to a mid-summer event on Wednesday 12th August. We first met at 7pm on the Sliema Ferries for cocktails and then boarded a Maltese Luzzu for a Harbour Cruise by night. The boat stopped us in Birgu, one of the Historical 3 Cities were a table was waiting for us at Riviera Della Marina. We had many delicious starters to choose from including pasta and seafood platters followed by fish or steak for main. Needless to say wine and great conversation flowed throughout the dinner! Finally the boat took us back to Sliema at about midnight. Definitely a great way to spend a relaxing summer evening!

Social Leader Jonathan giving the Kids a Ride

Yesterday’s activity deserves a blog because it’s always absolutely brilliant… An afternoon where the summer camp kids are whisked off to a beach club, where a sun bed and umbrella awaits each of them. The children can relax, have a dip in the splendid sea, or play on the sand with their leaders. At the end of the day a barbeque is organized for all and food and ice cream are served until no one could possibly fit anything else in their belly. Truly a five star experience!!

All packed up and ready to go... Nooooottt!!So at the end of the day the social leaders cleared the area and were ready to go… But then one of the kids, Elena, went to her social leaders Anthea and Nicolette in dismay because she had lost her braces which were wrapped in a napkin.

Anthea and Nicolette looked around the area and then realized that most probably someone had seen a napkin and thrown it away in one of the big dustbins.

So, out came the plastic bags to protect the arms and Anthea and Nicollete climbed into the bins to look for the 1,000 euro braces.

Bag after bag was opened and searched, every dirty napkin was unfolded…. Still, no braces.

Anthea, now needed a break, so assistant co-ordinator Marc came to swap with Anthea and rifle through the bins.

Marc opened the first bin bag, looked through it and found a cup, filled with lots of napkins, he was about to throw it back in the bin because it had so many napkins but then he had a change of mind.

He searched each napkin and in the last one… There it was!!!

Marc shouted… ’A-ha, I’ve found it. I am the King… Muwhahaha.’

All the kids were frightened by what they thought was an exclamation of frustration.  Elena was the only one who wasn’t scared, because she knew she had found her braces. What a relief.
