San Francisco has many sounds, and most of them are incredibly loud and usually unwelcome (i.e. sirens). However, there is one sound that is soothing and makes me feel right at home here in San Francisco, and that is the fog horn. The low hum signals the ships in the fog and I love it, even though the chances of seeing the sun that day will be slim 
If you are new to the city, I hope you hear and appreciate it just as I do.
