Eating Out

It's worth leaving the well-beaten tourist trail of the city centre behind and investigating the many hidden back streets of the city, where some of the best culinary treasures await discovery.

This is not to say that the centre of Cambridge has little to offer; on the contrary, you will find some excellent places to dine right next to the school or, best of all, down by the river - perfect for a hot summer's afternoon.

Breakfast cafes open at around 7am and offer a selection of pastries and hot drinks. There are also a number of bars that offer a full traditional English breakfast for those who like to start off their day with a hot meal.

Lunchtime is generally between 11.30am and 2.30am. Most restaurants offer a full menu, although some places offer special lunchtime prices.

Whilst the English like to have their dinner early, restaurants serve food from 6.30pm until late (about 11.30), so you can enjoy a pleasant dinner and more in the evenings.

The school has its own Café Guide – ask for a copy at the EC reception desk when you arrive. As well as the pizzeria downstairs, many students choose to eat at the EC Café in the Corn Exchange next door, where discounts are available through your EC student card.
