EC Sponsors Olympic Challenge
Ever since they were children Sebastian Ripard and Benji Borg have been crazy about sailing. Their ambition, energy, determination and love for what they do has taken them to within touching distance of their dream: Olympic glory.

2012
ISAF World Cup and OLYMPICS
Sebastian and Benji have one single desire and that’s to represent Malta in the 2012 London Olympics. The pair sail a two-person 49er which they hope to compete against 19 other nations in 2012. But first there’s the, not so small, matter of qualifying to get through.
If you thought winning Olympic gold was hard, getting to the tournament is even harder! There are hundreds of other sailing teams all over the world, who are just as determined as our boys to clasp one of the 20 berths. The qualifying process is long, exhausting and fiercely competitive. Sebastian and Benji have to pit their wits against the best sailors out there.
What’s this got to do with EC, I hear you ask. Well, let me explain. Following your dreams and reaching your goals can be a difficult business and sometimes we all need a little help. That’s why we’re sponsoring Sebastian and Benji’s campaign. We admire what they’re doing, we find their story inspiring and we know that competing against the world’s best sportsmen is expensive. We’re in a position to help them along the way; in fact, we’re behind them every step.
So what attracted us to help Sebastian and Benji?
We liked their style and they remind us of ourselves. Here are some similarities: we’re both based in Malta, we’re always trying to be the best we can, and we have the energy, desire and enthusiasm to do what we do on an international level. At EC, we’re in the business of helping people reach their goals. OK, so your goal probably isn’t to be an Olympian, it’s probably to improve your English for your career prospects. The important thing is, your English goal is more important than anyone else’s goal because it’s your goal. You’ve seen what we’re doing to help Sebastian and Benji, now come and see what we can do for you. Malta 49er official site.
What’s a 49er?
The 49er is a two-person 4.9 meter skiff dinghy which was chosen in 1996 to represent the skiff class at the Olympics. 49er racing combines the skill & finesse of sailing with the athleticism & drama of an extreme sport! 49er racing is exciting, high-adrenaline and always popular viewing during the Olympics. It is often described as the F1 of the sailing world!
