Lukas is another intern here at EC Brighton and he finish the 25th of February. Before he leaves I got him to answer some quick questions about his time here in the UK. Lukas is 19 and he’s from Sweden, going to Brighton was his first longer period abroad.
What is your favorite thing about Brighton as a city?
Brighton is a beautiful city and I really like that it’s close to the water. For me it takes 30 minutes by bus to get to school and it’s so nice to have a sea view all the way.
How do you think people are in Brighton, compared to people in Sweden and other places you’ve been to?
I believe people here are really nice and polite, they always say “Sorry” and “Thank you”. They are also more open to people from different countries and they embrace the foreign people.
Do you feel like your time in Brighton has helped you in any way?
Yes I do! My English was already good when I first came here, but now I feel a lot more confident speaking English. This trip made me more open minded about moving abroad in the future, before I couldn’t really see myself living outside of Sweden but now when I know what it’s like I am more comfortable with that thought.
What is your best tips to people going to another country?
I would say, don’t worry too much about it. You’ll always find someone you like and especially in Brighton where people are very open to meet new people. Also, you shouldn’t pack too much, I haven’t even used everything I brought and I’ve been here for 2 months haha!
