In Guardia Parade

01st January 2007 - 30th December 2008

The In Guardia Parade is held at Fort St. Elmo, which is situated in Valletta. The Fort was built in 1552 by the Knights of the Order of St. John. It was built in order to protect the island from the threat of invasion by the Ottoman army during the Great Siege in 1565. Around 70 performers re-enact this historical event in full period costume. Besides military drills the display also includes the changing of the guard and gunnery drill. The parade is roughly 40 minutes long and takes place regularly throughout the year.

In Guardia starts at 11.00 hrs and lasts around 40 minutes at Fort St. Elmo, weather permitting.
