AWL -Academic Word List - the 'F's'

Average: 4.3 (4 votes)

Probably a non-academic word comes to mind when you see 'F' word. That one, of course, isn't on the Academic Word List. ;-) Nevertheless, there are a number of other useful 'F' words for the TOEFL or IELTS.

In the next activity, choose the correct word from the lists below to fill in the blank spaces in each paragraph. You will be using ten different 'F' expressions from the AWL. To help you ace (do you remember what 'ace' means from one of my previous posts?) this short quiz, be sure to think about subject-verb agreement and connections between sentences.

Four mistakes!!! :(

I mixed up two pairs 'funds' and 'fees' and 'features' and 'flexibility'. Sad I'm looked up these words in the dictionary to make them more exact.
Funds is financial resources saved or made available for a particular purpose.
Fee is money regularly paid (esp. to a school or similar institution) for continuing services.
Thank you, Evelyn. I'll try to distinguish them in the future.
