Let's review some present and past verb tenses. Here you can see eight tenses; read through them to remind yourself of how they are used and then match the tenses to the sentences. The example sentences use the verb eat : eat / ate / eaten

present simple

I eat it.

present continuous

I am eating it.

present perfect

I have eaten it.

present perfect continuous

I have been eating it.

past simple

I ate it.

past continuous

I was eating it.

past perfect

I had eaten it.

past perfect continuous

I had been eating it.

Now match these tenses to the example sentences below. Copy and paste the tenses into the spaces:

present simple
present continuous
present perfect
present perfect continuous
past simple
past continuous
past perfect
past perfect continuous

  • I have been reading a good book.
  • I like golf.
  • she was watching me.
  • He has done it.
  • It had already closed.

I like these sentense...

I like to learn English on a good way with all environments such as writing, speaking and listening , but when I am getting start and learning every thing after some days I am forgeting every thing what I learned.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for all your time, and I really appreciate all your hard work you put into for helping us all the user in this site. I can imagine how hard must be for you. I think you are wonderful person and also those people who involved by making this site.

tenses is one of my weakness subject its a bit confusing for me sometime. English is not my first language but I love to improve my grammar, but most of the time i do get mix up on what to use in the sentences especially when it comes to past tense, but that was just my problem apart from that everything is ok. Could you pls I need more help and want to understand more about the tenses, please reply thank you.
