Beantown

Would someone explain to me the answers?
I wronged quite every answer!
The right ones were only Paris and Japan.
About my country
I think that my country could be known as the "The boot". A strange coincidence gave it a particular shape! The shoes are always in pairs...so it's a bit strange we have only one!Maybe Cinderella lose more than one pair of shoes!
The city where I live is in the meaddle of the country and a few years ago was called by an original politician from the Po Valley "XXXX ladrona"!!!You can translate it into English as "dishonest town" but it looses its peculiar savour! I find this nickname very ironical and funny!
Question
WHY DO W CALL NEWYORK BIG APPLE .CAN ANY ONE TELL ME THE STORY OF IT.
nickname
Very, very interesting!!!
But it's a pity that there are no explanations of all these nicknames.

I don't know exactly but may be my country has a nickname - "yellow -blue", as a colour of our Flag. And the capital of our country is called - "the mother of all Russian towns"
Nicknames for places
I'm also Ukrainian, Yura. I agree with you about Kyiv. Long times ago it was a capital of ancient state called Kievan Russia. The interesting detail is that we're considering Kyiv name as a male gender. It couldn't be mother, but FATHER!!!!
