How was your weekend?

So how was your weekend? What did you do?  Did you do anything nice? Here's something I did over the weekend.

I went out for a meal with my cousins on Saturday night. I have a large family and we don't see each other as much as we would like so we decided to all _1_ up. These days we only seem see each other at weddings or funerals. An informal get together was long _2_.
It took a lot of planning to find an evening when we were all available, that's for sure.
On the night, 17 of us cousins, including husbands and wives, went to a Mexican restaurant in Sliema (the tourist area of Malta). It was great having us all together in one place. Because it's been _3_ since the last time, we spent most of the evening talking about what's been happening to us _4_ we last met. We also did a lot of _5_ about when we were all children and the fun we used to have.
The food at the restaurant was great and good _6_ for money. The portions were so big that we all struggled to _7_ what we ordered. On the other hand, the drinks went down much easier! I suspect there were a _8_ hangovers the next morning.
It was really great _9_ up with everyone. We all agreed not to leave it so long until the next time. We're planning to meet up again next month, possibly for New Year's Eve. Again it'll take a lot of planning because most of us have young children. Fingers _10_ we'll be able to do it.

RE: Question 3

In response to your question, we do not say "It's been a long since the last time."

We say, "It's been a long time since the last time."

Remember that 'long' is an adjective; 'while' is a noun.

I hope that helps.
