Leaving on a Jet Plane - Intermediate / Upper Intermediate

Average: 4 (31 votes)

Leaving on a Jet Plane is one of the English language's great emotional love songs, originally sung by the late John Denver. Practice your listening and phrasal verb skills by completing this gap-fill! I suggest listening once first, then begin completing the gap-fill while listening another two times. You do not need to listen to the whole song, just the first couple of verses.

When you have finished click on Show Full Lyrics (below) and sing along!

  • All my bags are I'm ready to go
  • I'm standing here
  • I hate to to say goodbye
  • But the it's early morn
  • The taxi's waiting he's his horn
  • Already I'm so I could die
  • So kiss me and me
  • Tell me that you'll me
  • Hold me like you'll never
  • Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane, Don't know when I'll be ,Oh babe, I hate to go

Jet Plane song

Such a beautiful song. I made a few fool mistakes: "at side of your door" instead of "outside your door", "done" instead of "dawn", "in for" instead of "wait for". I think it's time for me to see an otolaryngologist to have my ears checked. Smile Thank you, Chris.

Misprint?

The song is very beautiful, the lyric is great!
When I hear the song, I hear:
"Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go"
I think "you're" replace for "you'll".
Do you think like me?

No Misprint

No misprint. You'll wait for me is a contraction of 'you will'. The sentence 'You will wait for me' is correct.

To use 'you're' the sentence must be 'you're going to wait for me.'

Thanks,

Chris
