Thomas Hagan, the only man who admitted his role in the 1965 assassination of iconic black leader Malcolm X, was _A_ Tuesday.

Saying that he has “deep regrets” about his participation in the killing of human rights activist Malcolm X in 1965, a _B_ Thomas Hagan regained his full freedom after _C_ the most of the last 44 years in prison.

Mr. Hagan, 69, has said he was one of three people who shot Malcolm X as he began a speech at the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem. But Mr. Hagan has said the two men _D_ with him were not involved. They maintained their _E_ and were paroled in the 1980s. No one else has ever been charged.

Mr. Hagan said in 1977 that he and several _F_ decided to kill Malcolm X because he was a “hypocrite” who had “gone against the leader of the Nation of Islam,” Elijah Muhammad. Hagan was a member of the Nation of Islam at the time. Malcolm X had earlier _G_ from the Nation and greatly angered its membership by making comments against the leader, Elijah Muhammad.
