Word of the day: Smell

rub it in

This joke is based on two uses of the word smell.

Smell can be used to describe something that has a bad or unpleasant odour:

"This fish smells! When did you buy it? (= This fish smells awful! When did you buy it?)
"I don't want to sit next to Dad - he smells!"
"What's that awful smell? Someone open a window!"

Smell is also the verb we use for inhaling an odour through the nose:

"Smell my new perfume. What do think about it?"
"Police dogs have a very good sense of smell. They are trained to smell drugs and explosives."

Chris !! Someone asked her what happened ? She said ," I got rejected "

WHich one is correct and why ??

  1.) I got rejected.

  2.) I've been rejected .

 Thanx!!

Personally, I'd used 'I

Personally, I'd used 'I was... ' or 'I got..' because we are simply talking about something that happened in the past.

Chris

Got or have been

In a TV reality show every boy  had to select a girl for a task .Each boy selected his choice of  girl but a girl wasn't selected by anyone.Thereafter the anchor of a show asked her" what happened girl".SHe said ," I got rejected "

I was thinkin' at that time could we use present perfect tense for this sentence?

AS you said it is concluded that it was a completed action in the past  though in that situation it had just been happened.
