I was have the same problem I asked my past teacher and he told me and he guide me to the best way to watch movies and understand, He told me to watch British movies, If you watch US movie you will confusing because they are talking fastly and they have deffrent of accent, I used this way and I had beneft to much.

I have no so much knowldge about English but in my study period and in these days also i learn one thing that we have to learn English as an intresting way.

As per as we know that English is an International Languge. We want to develop in this world by English. We want ot learn English for this purpose. So we have to learn as a interesting way from we feel never bored.

so learn english with intresting way.

I have the same problem .I could not understand the meaning as they are talking very fastly.But now a days they are showing the english sub titles . That help me a lot.

You can try to listen the audio clips .

i often try to understand the behaviors of the peole in the films,then i look at their faces to guess what they're thinking and saying.so i can understand the films without understand their languages!

The most problem with the non-native English speaker is listening. And I am also in this trouble. I'm working for a resort in which some Head of Department come from foreign countries such as Australia, Philipine, Thailand, India...They speak English in their way. I hear but some times I don't understand because their accent is different and it's hard to recognize the word. They complaint about my listening skill. I have moderately knowledge about English and now i know that the best way to understand them is communicate with them everyday. That will help you and me improve listening and speaking skill.

Hey ;] Here is my advice - try watching films with english subtitles. Later on (when you get used to english speaking) you won't need them anymore ;]

And I think all films are a good way of learning english, just choose the films you prefer most.

I looked at the comments on your topic. It is a common problem for all of the ESL (English as a second language) students.

I had some troubles with the movies too. First, try to use subtitles, at least you'll be able to understand what's happening.

Second, try to get movies with not very quick rate of speaking. For instance, I looked a movie "Terminal", it is a story about a foreigner stuck in the New York city airport. Of course, the hero speaks slowly and it is better to understand. To the end of the movie he began to speak and understand better (the same thing is happening with you).

I compared this movie with the "Gone by the wind" - it was much easier to understand.

"Gone by the wind" is full of slang or words and constructions, that were difficult for me.

Another good movie, that I may recommend is "Forrest Gump", it is some sort of comedy, melodrama and all sorts of things mixed up together. Anyway, it is quite easy to watch, especially using subtitles as well.

Unfortunately, I have no time to watch movies a lot.

Hi,everybody.Now I'm also a student.And I also have the same problem as u.Recently,I've attended a English course at the center near my house.It's a class for me to improve speaking & listening skill.My teacher said that if u want to speak English fluently u should read English day by day.That means we should read loudly a small paragharp(example ur lesson or newspaper...),from slow to faster,and imitate "the intonation,the sound" of native speaker.And we need to learn by heart vocabulary as much as we can.
Watching film is a good way to learn English.Though,at first you see difficult.You should watch film with subtitle.Then u watch it again without subtitle.Using English everyday is a good way to learn it well.That's all my opion.Hope u succeed in learning English !!

Hi every one , I'm also in a same boat , I'm also want to learn and speak english very fluently. And I'm trying so hard since 6 to 7 years but didn't get a chance to full feel my dream to learn english. but I'm very serious these days ,I research a lot and watch Two very interesting Movies that inspired me to learn english 1, KINGS SPEACH & 2,ENGLISH VINGLISH, after watching these movies I again start thinking about learn english, and I found a very good solution of that I start watching films with sub title and listening english conversation I found Very interesting web site called talkenglish.com and got audio files ( Free ) around 8000 wave files and start listening . That helps me a lot
So I think you people should try this and must watch these movie that's very interesting .

you are very smart.

you better switch off the volume and then watch out the movie. you need not to switch on the volume as you are good enough at understanding the movie through behaviour and body language. In this way you can easily learn english language!
