The answer:
1, ...stoped to buy...........started to deal
2,....help me find/to find...
3,....turn....
Verb and to verb is infinitve
Verb_ing is gerund
infinitive is the name for certain verb forms. the infinitive of a verb is its basic form with or without the particle to: therefore, do and to do, be and to be, and so on are infinitives
they are used as function of a normal verb
Gerund is formed by a Verb which is added the end"ing".It has function as a noun.
they are used in certain structure
It is a difficult part of english grammar for me too. I wish to be more exercises on that item.
If you want to use "Verb or to Verb or Verb-ing" exactly, You should study some tenses (ex: Present Simple tense, Present Continous tense, etc) and some structural forms (ex: Stop + Verb-ing, for+Nound/Verbing..., to going to do some things)
RG,
Teppi
so after like we use ALWAYS the verb ing,so:would you like me turning down the radia a bit??
it's ok now JOINED????
you are welcome:)
Hi
i m new here and going through all the stuff. how can i disscuss thing with on line students?
Correct me , if I am wrong , but isnt it right "start + to inf " and "start + gerund " and the same for "stop" ... I'm sure I've learned something about these verbs , but right now I'm not so sure what it was...
both Start and Stop are followed by V_ing and to do , but there are different meanings if they are followed by V_ing or to do
In my opinion, the answers will be:
1. When I caught them cheating on me, I stopped buying petrol there and started dealing with your station instead.
2. Can you help me find my mistakes?
3. Would you like me to turn down the radio a bit?
