I started teaching EFL in 2000 and haven't looked back. I've taught in the Balearic Islands, Spain, Italy and South Africa. The myriad of people from around the world that I’ve crossed paths with have fuelled my experience more than anything else and I owe my love for EFL to them.
They say first impressions last. The moment I crossed the EC threshold in January 2008 I fell in love! The great vibe was virtually palpable and I knew I was home. The energy of the school, my colleagues and students matched my own. This is where I wanted to grow as a professional and EC literally blew my expectations out of the water.
I started teaching at EC Cape Town in January 2008 and in December 2008 I was appointed as Director or Studies of the school. I have since worked on a variety of projects aimed at enriching EC students’ English learning experience, from opening a library in the school to pioneering the Listening Lab. I was also on the committee responsible for the initiation of a South African CPD Conference for EFL teachers– the first event was held in July 2011. Just recently I completed my Diploma in Tesol through Trinity, also to my academic team and students’ benefit.
I've experienced a variety of language-learning institutions, and there is just something unique and special about EC.
While there are clear distinctions between the academic and administrative staff, one element unites us all...a genuine desire to look after our students and ensure that their stay with us is inspirational, professional and memorable.EC is living proof that people make a difference. And that’s what you get - passionate, creative, caring and inspired individuals, of which I am very proud to be a part of.
