Shopping

There are some interesting shops in the town, including many bookshops (e.g.: Heffers). Cambridge has an unusually high number of independent shops offering everything from chocolate to jewelry.

There is a daily open-air fruit and vegetable market in Market Square which is in the centre of the city and right next to EC Cambridge. On Sundays, this becomes a traditional craft market, ideal for buying presents for friends and family back home.

Cambridge is particularly pretty at Christmas time, when all the shops and Market Square are decorated traditionally and tastefully.

Shops are normally open from 9.00am straight though until 5.30pm. Some shops open on Sundays and public holidays. There are two big shopping centers in the city – the Grafton Centre (which offers late night shopping on some nights during the week) and Lion Yard, which is just next to the school. For those wishing to shop a little further afield, London is less than an hour away by train; however, all major high street labels can be found in the city.

So whether you are looking for something quirky in a second-hand shop or the latest designer handbag, Cambridge is indeed a shopper's world.
