Choose from countless historical and modern sights ranging from the London Eye to the Houses of Parliament. The city also boasts four World Heritage sites: Palace of Westminster, Tower of London, Maritime Greenwich and Kew Gardens, all of which are well worth a visit.
Almost all of the major attractions are located in Travel Zone 1 so you can easily get to them from the school. The centre of the city is surprisingly compact so we try to encourage walking wherever possible. There are maps available showing the quickest and most interesting routes from EC London to famous sights such as Trafalgar Square and the Houses of Parliament.
For a fantastic aerial view of London, head towards The Monument, where you must first catch your breath and brace yourself for a couple of hundred steps that spiral upwards. Though once you're at the top you'll realise that it's all worth it! With the whole of London at your feet it's a wonderful opportunity for some great photographs. And best of all it's free. To get there just catch the Tube to Monument station and then ask for directions to the landmark.
Sightseeing in London is not restricted solely to museums and monuments as there are beautiful parks, like Hyde Park, which provide a lovely open air environment for a relaxed day out. The Thames also provides some great opportunities for sightseeing, and whilst a guided boat trip may be slightly expensive, you can opt to take a water taxi that will guide you down the river for a much cheaper price, where you will still have the chance to see many of London's attractions.
