Sports and Outdoor

Sports

The University itself organises many events throughout the year, such as rowing races and football matches. Although these are not usually open to members of the public, they still make for an excellent afternoon's entertainment as a spectator. Alternatively, you may wish to visit one of the city’s two sports' centers, both of which boast sporting facilities of all kinds, ranging from basketball to trampolining and swimming pools.

The River Cam, which runs right through the city, is particularly scenic and makes it a great place for walking or cycling.

Students can also join a gym while in Cambridge. Ask at EC’s reception desk for more information. EC also organises regular sporting events of its own in and around the city as part of its social programme.

Outdoors

Cambridge benefits from a wonderful countryside setting, making it a perfect place from which to begin your explorations of East Anglia. The landscape is fairly flat, but that’s not to say uninteresting; the Fens are home to all kinds of wildlife, while the Norfolk Broads (a network of waterways an hour North of Cambridge) provide the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
