The community college route into university is known as Two Plus Two and is becoming an increasingly popular option for university access in the US. Students can study for a two-year associate degree course, and then transfer to a four-year university for an additional two years to complete a bachelor’s.
The community college track is the perfect option for price-conscious students, or for those who lack the grades or language skills to start off at a four-year college.
Tuition fees are substantially lower than those of traditional universities. Four-year universities also often give priority to students transferring from community colleges because the students are better prepared for the level of work required at university.
