  • There are many great things which I have been studying from the University Foundation Program (UFP). First, American history class not only widens my knowledge about states of America, but also about the history of America and the culture. Second, Academic Skills classes help me improve my time management skills and speaking skills. Moreover, I have good chances to practice presentation skills, note-taking skills, and research skills. It is apparent that I can improve my writing, reading, and listening skills by joining UFP. The UFP is fantastic and beneficial. Finally, I love the ways the teachers teach me. They can inspire me to study hard, like a busy bee. I’m eager to hear them and absorb the knowledge. To sum up, taking into account knowledge and skills from UFP, I like to study in this program.

  • I appreciate very much that I am studying at EC Boston. I especially love this University Foundation Program. I think it is the best ESL program among all the English schools. If I were not taking this program, I would have difficulty when I study in university. I have many reasons why I like this program. First, I can learn not only English but also various studies like business, history, and science (the brain). Second, I like Autonomy time. I can study more and I can ask questions to the teachers during this time. I think it is a very useful and helpful time. Third, I respect the teachers. I think their teaching is good. And they always correct our speaking when we speak sentences incorrectly, even if we are only wrong with one word. Sometimes teachers teach us the sentences or words which Americans often say daily.

  • I learned how to take notes in lectures. This will help me in university. I learned some knowledge about American history and American geography. And I learned how to make a presentation. It will be used in university. My reading and writing abilities have improved in the last two months. At last, I learned how to work with a partner and how to use the library. Last week was the eighth week in UFP. In core English class, we learned transition expressions and conjunctions and about the difference between art and craft. In American history and culture class, we went to the Boston Public Library two times to find information which will be used in our presentations next week. I borrowed one book and finished my Power Point on Sunday. Last week we had only one learning skills class, and we talked about our presentation.

  • I learned grammar. It helped me a lot. When I was in general class, I couldn’t ask a lot, but in this program, we have learner autonomy time, so I can ask many questions. Also when I say something wrong, the teachers correct me; it’s really helpful for me. If I hadn’t chosen this program, my English would be at the same level. Because we do lots of homework and presentations, it makes me more motivated to study English than when I was in general class.

  • In this program, I have learned a lot of new words and phrases that can be useful in everyday life and in university. Now I can speak more fluently, and I feel more comfortable when I speak. Also this program is helping me to improve my grammar. Of course, I still have small problems with grammar, but not as many as when I started to study in this program. Furthermore, the UFP program helps me imagine how I should study in college.

  • In this semester, I’ve learned three skills for dealing with essays in university. These are summarizing, paraphrasing, and synthesizing. I think these skills will help me a lot in preventing plagiarism. I’ve also learned what plagiarism is and the consequences when I commit it. I’m studying in an international environment so that I have to use English all the time.Though I feel so tired sometimes, I still have to use English to communicate with friends (mostly after a test or in learner autonomy class). Nevertheless, I like that. It motivates me to reflect on English more. In general, I like this course. One thing I still want to learn is presentation skills. I am often nervous, or I cannot control my mind or my words when I’m doing a presentation. I would like to have more presentations because it will help me so much in college.

  • I have been studying at EC Boston for almost 18 months. When I came to Boston, my English was very bad; I didn’t know anything. But now my English has gotten better, and I can see that. But when I started the UFP, I guess my English started getting better faster, and we are focusing more for the university because our plan is to start university as soon as possible.

  • I’m very happy to join this program, because I have been learning new grammar that helps me write or speak perfectly. I’d like to improve my writing in this program. I’d recommend to write any subject that you give us once a week. We turn it in to you to correct it. I’d thank Jason and you to correct our grammar in speaking. In fact, this program is helpful for us, but I’d like you to evaluate us by writing a letter on where we are.

  • At first I was afraid of how this program would work. After two weeks, I like it very much, even though it has a lot of duties that we didn’t use to have in regular class. Core English is a very important class, because we learn grammar, writing, and vocabulary. However, it miss something, such as more practice in skimming, scanning, listening, and taking notes. We need more reading homework and writing, and the big portion: recorrect our writing, or how can we learn. American history is a very useful and interesting class that teaches me about America, what we should know. Also I like the lecture series, because every day we learn a new topic and vocabulary and practice our listening. In my opinion, one thing is missing in UFP: the writing part. Another school has a book just for writing for practicing and source at the same time. Thank you very much for the effort that you make for us.

  • I think this program is good for students that want to go to university. I believe this program is successful for everyone who wants to study English. This program has good teachers. Also, they want students to study and work hard. I have a lot of homework; this is good for me. However, UFP is a good program, but the time is killing me. I learned many things.

  • What have I learned from this program? I improved my grammar by focusing on the passive voice and transitions, which will help a lot on writing my essays in college. In addition to several things, some of them were interesting and new and the others were repeated and useless. What do I need to learn from this program? I need to put all my concentration on improving my writing skills, because that will help me to survive in college and keep my grades up. With speaking, I could improve it by the time I go to college. Thus, I’m not worried about it.

  • I have studied for two months at EC Boston. I was happy in EC study. I have three classes a week. I have three good teachers. I can study good grammar, study skills, and pronunciation. Now, I can speak English, but my grammar is not good. I need teachers to help me raise my grammar. These teachers can help me learn English.

  • I thought that this program influences me a lot. There are several reasons why it is helpful for me. First of all, we have been studying about biology and architecture, things like that. It is not the same as general class. Also, I could learn a lot of vocabulary which is related to the topic. Second, we have a presentation about one of the states in the USA. I believe that it was good practice for university. One of the reasons is that I didn’t know how to prepare for the presentation. In addition, I had not used Power Point, so I believe that the UFP course is very useful for a person who wants to join a university in the USA. To sum up, I could learn a lot of vocabulary and prepare for a university very well.
