Maltese Prime Minister Dr Lawrence Gonzi, officially inaugurated our New York English school during his visit to the United States for the UN General Assembly this week. EC New York is our third school in the USA The school with an enviable location on Broadway overlooking Times Square opened in early 2009 and has been a hit from day one.
Andrew Mangion EC’s Executive Chairman introduced the Prime Minister to the collected audience. Mr Mangion, referring to the EC success story, credited the staff across the group for the continued achievements the company has experienced. Mr. Mangion explained the motivation of the EC team, “This year EC’s 700 plus staff will help over 25,000 students from over 120 countries to learn and improve their English language skills. A language which will expand people’s horizons and allow them to see further, bringing them together and understanding one another”
During the official inauguration Dr Lawrence Gonzi congratulated EC for its international expansion and all its hard work. The Prime Minister was very impressed with our very modern school and its great location in the heart of Manhattan.
The Prime Minister, accompanied by Dr. Franco Debono, Mr. Walter Mallia and Mr. Charles Bonello, completed his visit with a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by a tour of the school and introduction to the collected guests, which included EC staff, students and distinguished guests from the New York State Education Department.
