Packing for any kind of trip can be one of the more stressful parts of the journey – that’s why we’re taking a look at some absolute essentials that you shouldn’t leave home without. Ready? Here we go!
-
Some cash in the local currency
It’s always a good idea to carry some cash – just make sure that it’s in the right currency. You never know what might come up!
-
Any important documents
Keep your passport, along with any other important documents like ID cards, insurance, and visa information, somewhere safe throughout your stay.
-
Camera (and charger!)
While you’re learning English in one of our stunning destinations, we know you’ll want to keep a record of all the unforgettable experiences you’ll enjoy, or share stunning photos with your friends and family online.
-
Sunglasses, Spare Glasses, prescription
Sunglasses are a must-have, especially if you’re studying during the warmer months! If you’re long or short-sighted and use prescription glasses, remember to take a spare pair and your prescription with you, just in case.
-
Swimming shorts/ bathing costume
One of the worst feelings in the world is missing out on the opportunity to jump into a pool or splash around in the sea with friends on a sunny day – so don’t forget to pack the right clothes for the occasion.
-
Super Comfortable Shoes
Comfy shoes are an absolute essential if you want to explore all that your chosen destination has to offer. No blisters or sore feet here, please!
-
A laptop/tablet
Laptops, tablets, and smartphones are perfect for keeping in touch with loved ones and doing some extra work at home. If you don’t have a laptop, don’t worry – our schools are fully equipped with computers for you to use.
-
Your favourite pyjamas
After a long day of learning English and exploring the city, there’s no better feeling than jumping into your favourite pyjamas. On days where you might feel a little homesick, your PJs will offer the perfect comfort.
-
A small gift for your host family
Bringing a small gift to give your host family (if you opt for this accommodation option) is the perfect way to break the ice and make a great first impression. The Japanese call this gift or souvenir ‘omiyage’ and is quite a significant (and lovely) part of the culture.
-
Something to remind you of home
Studying abroad is a truly fantastic, life-enriching experience, but even the most seasoned traveller can get homesick from time to time. To help keep that homesickness away, remember to pack something that will remind you of home, your family, and your friends.
