The home of tech corporates and a surfers’ paradise, San Diego is an extraordinary place to learn English in the USA. A mix of English students from all over the world including Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Switzerland and Japan, Korea and Europe make learning interesting and fun; you truly are in a cosmopolitan location.

Our San Diego English language school offers courses in General English with either 20, 24 or 30 lessons per week, English for Work, English in the City which is made up of 20 core language lessons and 4 electives in subjects you wish to focus on, giving you the vocabulary and grammar to talk about the city, its history and surroundings confidently. The Cambridge Exam Preparation course of 30 lessons gets you ready for the B2 First (FCE): which has a minimum level of Intermediate / C1, or the Advanced (CAE) which accepts those with a minimum level of Pre-Advanced language skills. We also have courses that run for the Academic semester which will have even a complete non- speaker fluent.

EC San Diego is a stone’s throw from La Jolla beach, you can really chill out after your English class and live the American Dream with barbeques on the beach, rollerblading and people watching. Trips to Disneyland, Universal Studios and Yosemite are also arranged by the school.

With an all-year-round temperate climate, there is no bad time to learn English in San Diego, no distinct seasons mean you can have summer all year round! There is so much to do – you almost will not have time for classes …. though we do try to entice you to our extra free classes for pronunciation, idioms and business English skills.

English language school students enjoy free time

Balboa Park is the site of the renowned San Diego Zoo, home to a fantastically colourful array of animals, mammals, birds and reptiles, as well as numerous art galleries, artist studios, museums and gardens. The nearby open air farmers market is an amazing experience, do not miss the opportunity to get a picnic to share with your newfound friends.

The natural deep harbour is home to a large active military fleet, with the USS Midway, an aircraft-carrier-turned-museum, open for you to visit. If the sea is in your blood, climb the Cabrillo National Monument lighthouse which has expansive views, go whale watching, sailing or kayak in the caves. The aquarium gives a great insight to what lives below the surface if you don’t want to dive in and snorkel yourself!

There are plenty of opportunities to practise English with people from school, and those visiting the city as tourists and as commuters. If you leave … you will have a good range of experiences in speaking to other English speakers from many nationalities and backgrounds too.
