Another good reason to learn English in Vancouver

Sharing is caring!

If the scenery, the people, the calm and the vibe aren’t enough to lure you to the city, maybe the fact that you can study English in Vancouver, is?

With courses for young adults and a dedicated school for those aged 30+ offering General English and English for Work, EC Vancouver also has an Academic Year course which runs for 24 weeks or more, the Cambridge English Exam Preparation syllabus, and also the University Pathway programme, which gives students access to a wide range of universities and colleges in Canada are also options.

While not studying, explore the city that is represented by diverse nationalities from every corner of the earth with restaurants from each, food markets with delicious ingredients and plenty of parks and green spaces to take a picnic to. Stop by a sports and cheer one side on or visit the amazing annual Bard on the Beach festival which shows 4 Shakespeare plays in Vanier Park for a more refined evening. Walk or bike on the Seawall at Stanley Park, one of the largest parks in North America spread over one thousand acres and more than 5 miles of path along the water with breath-taking views of beaches, mountains, and skycrapers.

Jazz Vespers is a series of church services with jazz musicians taking over the choir’s role. These events are free, but donations are appreciated. Held in suburban churches, you can get the chance to look around a new neighbourhood too.

The Vancouver Film Festival is one of the biggest with 300 films from 70 countries and 100,000 visitors seeing action movies, comedies, dramas, documentaries, science fiction films, horror and more but if sitting still is not your thing, there are lots of sports and its always the season for something; check out the notice board at the school and join your classmates to see live sports. We have our own movie club where we discuss a move we have all watched together; this gives you other students’ perspective and you get to mix with those in different classes and of different levels.

Live music is very popular and global bands play; Ed Sheeran, The Cure, Boney M, Coldplay and The Arctic Monkeys are scheduled to play in the second half of 2023.

And if you want to see more of Canada but can’t bring yourself to leave the city, why not try the Flyover Canada Experience? Buckle up and enjoy the cinematic ride!

Our school is located across the street from Granville SkyTrain station where there are lots of entertainment venues and you are close to all amenities, so check in and check the wonderful city of Vancouver out!
