AY Lecture Series Review by Saeed, A Student Ambassador

Sharing is caring!

First of all, we listened to a lecture about Bootstrap Compost. It was really useful because nowadays, most of people around the world do not fully understand  what is waste food, advantages, disadvantages, and how its affects our environment. So how we can reduce the amount of it? Bootstrap Compost is one of the leading companies trying to help the people in Boston to put the waste food in a special bag to go through recycling to be converted to fertilizer.
There are many community benefits from recycling; for instance, schools and gardens in Boston. Also, since 2011 there are 420 residential subscribers, 23 commercial clients, and over 200,000 pounds diverted from the landfill with Bootstrap Compost. Mass compost will start in 2014 as food waste is banned. Personally, I asked the presenter if they have any intention to be an international company. He told me they are trying the best to be in the future, as well as when government support will be available.
