General background info:
I was born in Boston and have grown to love my city more and more. My parents are Cantonese-Chinese raised in Vietnam who immigrated to Boston. I have attended both high school and college here, and have recently graduated from Umass Boston. I count myself very blessed to meet people from all over the world who come to study here.
Favorite experience abroad:
I really enjoyed my time in Peru, which was my first time traveling outside of the US. I went there with a close friend to do youth ministry as well as travel all around Lima. I’ll never forget walking through the beautiful Spanish colonial architecture, and trying out an amazing seafood dish, ceviche. Everything felt so different for me, but making an effort to learn Spanish and the culture has given me access to new meaningful friendships.
Favorite thing about Boston:
My favorite place to hang out is Central Square and Harvard Square in Cambridge. I just love how it’s populated with students everytime I walk through the neighborhood. During my free time, I love catching up and trying out coffee shops with friends. I highly recommend 1369 Coffeehouse in Central Square!
Most memorable moment at EC so far:
My most memorable moment at EC is definitely the graduation ceremony every Friday! It remains my favorite part of the week. Seeing students graduate from their programs and exchanging goodbyes with their teachers and classmates reminds me of how blessed I am to be educated in Boston as well.
Something quirky/odd/interesting about yourself:
I recently found out that I could be claustrophobic (having a fear of tight spaces). To think of being stuck in an elevator makes me nervous. I also love acoustic guitars, and really hope to play songs for my close friends and family someday.
