In many countries, April 1st is April Fools’ Day – a day in which hoaxes and practical jokes are employed specifically in order to embarrass gullible or ‘foolish’ people. These pranks can be very simple jokes, or they can be more elaborate, and are often played on friends or family members. The idea of ‘The Fool’ dates as far back as the 14th Century, as writer Chaucer made use of it in his ‘Canterbury Tales.’ So if you’re feeling funny or mischievous on April 1st this year, maybe put together a small practical joke! However, a joke taken too far is not funny…so don’t be too mean!
