The Level is one of the best spots to hang out in Brighton.
Regardless of the time of year, The Level is always a fun and active place. This park is comprised of an open green space, a skate park, a large water play area converted from a Victorian swimming pool and some slightly wooded seating areas. The area is situated in a cross over point for many central areas of Brighton, including Lewes Road, Hanover, the Laines, London Road and a few minutes from Seven Dials. This makes it easily accessible to many people and a mini cultural melting pot.

You’ll frequently find the park used for urban sports (i.e skateboarding, scootering, roller blading) and hanging out on the green. But there are many activities that are a little less known about. For example every Tuesday there is an English conversation club. A great addition for anyone taking Brighton School of English, meet new people and practice your English in the great outdoors.

On Thursdays a volunteer gardening session. In the centre of the level is Café Dolce and Salato, while on the edge of The Level there is a little Loving Hut Café for vegan food. There are table tennis tables around and bats and balls available from the café. Pétanque and boccia courts (similar to the English bowls game) are available and you can borrow a set of balls from the garden manager. Also dotted around the circular gravel court pictured above (middle-right), are stone table chess boards. You can speak to the garden manager about borrowing a set of pieces and play chess in a secluded spot.
