The EC Bristol team recommends the top 5 museums to visit in Bristol.

  1. M Shed: Tells the amazing history of the city through the objects and stories of the people who have made the city of Bristol. It also has a gallery space where there are many amazing exhibitions.
  2. Bristol Museum & Art Gallery: Tells the story of our world in every display, from the beginning of time to the present day. It has 19 galleries over 3 floors. In November it will be hosting the stunning Wildlife Photographer of the year Exhibition.
  3. The Red Lodge Museum: A historic Elizabethan house, tucked away near the buzz of the busy shopping areas of Park Street and the Christmas Steps.  Built in 1579-1580, it's kept its original tudor rooms.
  4. SS Great Britain: A museum ship and former passenger steamship considered advanced for her time. She was the longest passenger ship in the world from 1845 to 1854.
  5. The Georgian House Museum: Originally built around 1790 for a wealthy sugar merchant, its decorations & furniture have been preserved and it is displayed as a typical late 18th century town house offering a glimpse of life hundreds of years ago.
