Did you know that The Manchester United Supporters’ Club on the tiny island of Malta is officially recognised by Manchester United Football Club as the oldest Manchester United supporters club in the world? Yep! The Club was founded in 1959 by John Calleja, the year following the Munich tragedy. This year the club has celebrated its 50th Anniversary in style together with Club Manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Captain Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes at the Mediterranean Conference Centere. Earlier that day Sir Alex Ferguson was walking right outside the school when he “bumped” into Matthew from the Customer Relations Department who kindly directed him to one of the local pubs. Word soon spread and many other EC Malta staff members and students “bumped” into him while at the pub! Surely a memorable day for our EC football fans!
