The feast of St. George in Gozo, is renowned for more than its sacred celebration. Amongst various attractions, traditional horse races take place in Republic Street, Victoria (Gozo) on Sunday afternoon (feast day). St. George’s Parish boasts a popular brass band known as the Banda La Stella which performs throughout the week in a number of locations

Saturday 14th july
10.00pm: The La Stella and King’s Own (Valletta) Bands participate as a massed band in the triumphal and unique march along Republic Street. Grand fireworks display at Republic Street.
Sunday 15th July
11.00am: The St George M. Band (Ħal Qormi) and St. Michael Band (Ħaż-Żabbar) Bands lead the popular band march at the heart of Victoria.(the Traditional Sunday Morning March)
7.00pm: The La Stella Band of Victoria hails the appearance of the statue of the diocese’s Heavenly Protector at the bronze portals of the parish of Gozo, with the religious hymn Georgius natus est (Can. Joe Mejlak – Prof. Joseph Vella) – as per image
