“Nuit blanche sur tableau noir” (NBTN) is a four day visual arts event in Mont Royal avenue. The activities include street painting, installation art, performances, concerts, children’s activities and more. There are more than 500,000 spectators walking around Plateau Mont Royal district, which is the fourth hippest neighbourhood in North America!

This year the event will be held from June 7 to 10. It will have some 100 free open-air shows and activities on a 2.5 km stretch of Mont-Royal Avenue. NBTN put together a bold and entertaining program around the theme J’aime mon voisin! (I love my neighbour!). It will take the artists out of their studios and onto the street in order to get the public involved in this event.

A series of concerts featuring new artists from Montreal’s alternative-music scene will kick off at 3pm on Thursday, June 7, in Place Gérald-Godin (Métro Mont Royal).

The main event is the overnight street-painting extravaganza “La Grande Fresque de Nuit”. It will will take place Friday, June 8, at 10pm. Forty-four artists have accepted the invitation to paint their vision of neighbourliness directly onto the pavement before a live audience.

From June 9 to 10, from 11h to 17h, Children will have their own space (Rêve d’enfants sur Tableau Noir) on the pavement at Compagnons-de-Saint-Laurent Park at the corner of Cartier where they can take part in creative activities.
