Hello everyone! My name is Jillian and I am the Young Learner’s programme manager and teacher. Our Young Learners program has begun here in Montreal! Welcome to all our new students from Mexico.
Here at EC, we are not only building friendships and memories, we are also building new nations!
I am happy to report that the students and I are having a wonderful time improving English skills, learning, and participating in fun interactive activities.
Our young learners are busy at work creating their very own countries. This week of the Young Learners program is themed “Create a new nation”, where students are working in groups to create their own world using their very own ideas and imagination.
After a welcoming first day, students watched an exciting movie that takes place in another world in order to gain inspiration. Additional fun and educational activities followed, such as creating their nation’s name, a map of the land, national flag, an original anthem, and currency. Immersed in a complete English environment, students work together while applying the skills, grammar, and functions learned in the lesson of that day, all to create innovative and original weekly projects. Where in turn, they apply it to real life scenarios while on their excursions around the city, such as their tour to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts to view the famous Chagall exhibition!
I am so impressed at the students’ inventive ideas and I can’t wait to see the amazing worlds they create this week!
