Monday, October 16 is World Food Day. To raise awareness to the world’s hunger situation, BeaverTails will be giving away free pastries on Friday, October 13 and Monday, October 16, in exchange for non-perishable food items or cash donations. The funds and goods will be distributed to non-profit, charitable donations across Canada to help feed the needy.
This is a wonderful initiative and a great way to get a taste of this Canadian sweet treat!
It seems that every culture has some type of fried dough dessert and Canada is among them! Canada’s national animal is the beaver, so it was fitting to fry the dough in the shape of a beaver tail and serve them with all kinds of amazing toppings!
Beaver tails are sold from food trucks around the city, especially in touristy neighborhoods such as Old Montreal.
EC Montreal will help BeaverTails with this clever initiative and will be promoting their fundraising event to all our students! You can get your free beaver tail at the following BeaverTail location in Montreal: Camion Queues de Castor, at the corner of Sherbrooke & Victoria in Westmount.
In addition, EC Montreal will be doing its own fundraising activity to help the needy of the Montreal community. We are asking everyone in the EC Montreal community; students, staff and teachers to bring as many non-perishable food items as they can on Monday, October 16. These items will be donated to the CTV Spirit of Giving campaign. For every item donated, your name will be added to a draw with a chance to win a dinner for two at a landmark Montreal restaurant!
Let’s all give generously on World Food Day!
