Montreal will be hosting a Korean Food Festival called Pocha Montreal later this month and we could not be more excited! Our Student Services Manager, Renee, is Korean and her family owns the very popular Atti Express restaurant chain. She has introduced us to Korean food and we have been craving it ever since!
The name of the Korean food festival is called Pojangmacha or Po Cha. This translated to tented area that sells food. Some of the popular foods being served are Dakganjeong, which is a deep-fried crispy chicken dish. In addition, they will be serving Jokbal, which is a pig’s feet dish.
A drinks bar will also be set up serving soju cocktails. Soju is a liquor that is similar to vodka but a little sweeter. Ordering a beer and a shot of soju is a very poplar drink order with Koreans.
The event will also include entertainment. There will be a well-known K-pop band as well as traditional Korean performances.
If you were ever interested in learning more about Korean culture, this will be an incredible opportunity.
The event is taking place at the Marché des Possibles located at 5635 St. Dominique from July 26 to July 28. On July 26, the festival hours will be from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. On July 27 the festival will run from noon to 10 p.m. and on the last day on July 28 from noon to 7 p.m.
You can access the event by public transportation. You simply need to take the metro to Berri-Uqam and then switch to the orange line and go to Rosemont metro station. From Rosemont you can walk to the event as it is only 900 meters away.
We will definitely be promoting this event to our EC Montreal students in both the adult and young learner programmes. It definitely is something different showcasing Montreal’s wonderful diversity and colourful cultures.
