Welcome Back to EC Montreal!

Sharing is caring!

Monday, August 31 was a very big day for EC Montreal!  After being on lock down for close to six months, we reopened the school! We welcomed close to thirty students to our EC Montreal classes.  Some have been studying online with us since we were mandated to close back in March and others were new to us.  Some of the new students had been studying at another language school in Montreal that unfortunately, will not be reopening.

Welcoming new students will be a blessing for us at EC Montreal as our international borders are still closed and will remain closed until at least September 30.  The only visitors that can come through are essential travellers.  International students holding a valid study permit are considered essential travellers, so if can register for a period exceeding 24 weeks, you can apply for a CAQ and a study permit.  There may be delays in processing the visa applications so it is best to start the process early.  EC Montreal is here to guide you and give you all the instructions necessary to apply for your permit.

EC Montreal has reopened to a blended learning format.  This means that part of the studies are in person and part will remain online.  This is one of our most important safety measures as it limits our physical time at the school.  This is also a prudent way to move forward as we don’t know if we will get a second wave of the virus and will be mandated to shut down again.

The face-to-face lessons take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  The classes start at noon and the students were instructed to come in by 11:30 a.m. in order to go through check in.  Before coming to school, students and staff were instructed to complete the mandatory health screening form.  This will be required of them every single time they come to the in person classes.  At the check-in, we took the students’ temperature and verified that the form was completed.  If we were satisfied with the answers to the screening form and their temperature was below 37.2 degrees, they were permitted in the school.

All staff and students must wear a face mask and must sanitize their hands at the entrance.  The desks in the classroom are all two meters apart from each other and the teacher and the bathrooms are limited to only one person at a time.

Students can only access the school by the back stairs and once in the school, they are not permitted to leave the premises.

All these measures are to ensure that all our staff and students remain healthy and safe during this trying time.

Our staff and students are so happy to be back!  It was so nice to see the school come back to life after so many months being away.

All students still have access to Microsoft Teams where they can access their Online English Courses or Online French Courses. For the moment, all special focus classes as well as the Tuesday and Thursday core classes will remain on virtual.
