Nayeong is a nineteen-year-old student from South Korea who is loving her experience exploring and learning English in New York. She is currently learning at an intermediate level, and will be studying English in the US for five more weeks out of six months total at EC New York. She always has a smile on her face and was happy to sit down with us for a quick interview about her experience in New York and learning English at EC.
Why are you learning English?
I am learning English because my major at my university is sailing. I want to be the captain of a sailing ship, like Columbus. Being a captain is an international job, so English is necessary.
Why New York?
I chose New York because New York is the most romantic city in the world! I actually visited my family five years ago here, and it is still my favorite city. It is nice that my cousins are still here.
What do you like the most about New York?
I think New York has a lot of lovely places like central park, the New York Public Library, and of course Times Square. Number eight on my bucket list was to study at the New York Public Library on 42nd Street or study at Central Park- and I did it! I checked it off my bucket list. Next on my bucket list is to walk down 5th Avenue to see stores like Gucci and Ferragamo.
What do you like most about EC New York?
My teachers Heather and Nathan are perfect. My class went on a field trip to Bryant Park and the New York Public Library. That was a good memory for me. Also, I like the orange color. Seven months ago when I chose my school, I picked EC because of the color orange. It caught my eye because it is so bright. I also have a lot of new friends from Japan and Korea. There are a lot of other students here from Korea, but we speak English together!
