Jiho “Jason” Chae from Korea studied at EC New York for six months and moved from high intermediate to upper intermediate. He participated in several activities, free classes, and was deeply involved in the school.
What do you do in Korea?
I’m a student. I have two more years to graduate. I am 23 but I finished military service in October. My major is Business Administration, and I want to be an international trader.
Why are you learning English?
Because I am studying Business Administration, which is related to global society. That’s the reason why I want to study English. I want to be an international trader. Also, I like traveling. I want to travel to other countries, and English is important.
Why did you choose EC?
Actually, I heard that it is clean, nice mood, and good mix of nationalities.
Why did you decide to study English in New York City?
Because in my opinion it’s one of the most famous cities in not only the US but in the whole world. That’s the reason why I chose New York City.
What did you like most about EC?
It’s very clean. And also for me there are a lot of Europeans and students from South America so it’s good for us. In some schools there are a lot of Asians. So I could meet a lot of foreign friends.
What did you like most about living in New York City?
A lot of events. I’m from Korea so I don’t want to feel bored. I want to travel to other cities like San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston, but I don’t want to stay there. Also, I’m accustomed to living in big cities.
Where is your favorite place in New York City?
Top of the Rock and SoHo.
Share a memorable experience: For me, almost everything. I really like my friends now and I really miss them. I want to see them again. Maybe I can see them because I like traveling.
What advice would you give to a new student?
Hang out with friends who are from other countries obviously and don’t be shy. There are a lot of students who are so polite and too shy so they don’t speak to everyone.
Fun facts about Jason:
I am a foodie, so my hobby is finding nice restaurants and going there. Also, trying many different kinds of cuisines. I love soccer and taking pictures. My favorite food in Korea is beef with sweet sauce and my favorite food in New York is Brazilian food.
