Recipe for a Perfect Day

Sharing is caring!

With its great weather, miles of sandy beaches, and major attractions, San Diego is known worldwide as one of the best tourist destinations. After studying in the beautiful area of La Jolla, many exciting attractions are waiting for you in San Diego. Rent a car together with your friends for a day over the weekend and discover many different parts of the city:

You can start your Saturday morning with a delicious American breakfast at “The Cottage” (http://www.cottagelajolla.com/breakfast.html) in La Jolla. After all the good food you can stroll down La Jolla’s Coast Boulevard, watching seals taking their morning sun-bath.

Then head south and enjoy the next couple hours with your friends under the Californian sun at Mission Beach (http://g.co/maps/utv6g). The high waves of the Pacific Ocean and miles of picture perfect sandy beaches are waiting for you here.

How does a good American burger sound to you afterwards? On your way to our next attraction, the Cabrillo National Monument at Point Loma, you can make a stop at IN-N-OUT Burger (http://www.in-n-out.com/secretmenu.asp) at Sports Arena Boulevard (http://g.co/maps/58s32). Do not miss to stop by and enjoy one of their tasty meals!

After your break you are well prepared to drive further to Cabrillo National Monument (http://www.nps.gov/cabr/index.htm). From here you will experience an unforgettable view of the entire city, down San Diego’s coast, all the way to Mexico! If you are interested in history, you should not have a look at the exhibit on the monument itself. Learn more about the city’s past and Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, who set his foot as the first European on what is now the West Coast of the United States. At the entrance of the National Park you have to pay a fee of $5, but your ticket is valid for one week and we highly recommend you to come back one night and watch the beautiful sunset from here.

Now it’s time to drive into the city and visit Balboa Park (http://www.balboapark.org) – the green oasis within San Diego. The entire Balboa Park is a primary attraction in the region. The park’s landscape has many trees and groves creating an urban forest for San Diego. Besides its nice gardens and walking paths, it contains a variety of cultural attractions including many museums, several theaters, and the world famous San Diego Zoo (http://www.sandiegozoo.org).

After all this excitement, you should reward yourself with a nice dinner. It’s time to try the great Mexican food at Casa Guadalajara (http://www.casaguadalajara.com) in Old Town. If you drive along the water, you will be able to see the huge aircraft carrier, USS Midway (http://www.midway.org), on your left hand side. From here it is not far to Old Town. We recommend you try Casa Guadalajara’s “Especial de la Casa”, a mixed plate with the best Mexican food.

For a perfect end of the day you should watch San Diego’s beautiful sunset at Coronado Island. The beach in front of its famous hotel “Hotel del Coronado” (http://g.co/maps/dwdhu) is one of the softest sandy beaches in San Diego. Bring your towels or a frisbee and enjoy after your exciting day the amazing lighting of the beautiful Californian sunset!
