October is a great month to study English in the USA as Halloween is celebrated the entire month long! Feel free to take a San Diego ghost tour, or visit any of the haunted places below during your free time! Here are a few fun facts about the most haunted places in San Diego!
William Heath Davis House
Located in modern day downtown San Diego the William Heath Davis House was built in 1850. Many people lived and died in the home including Alonzo Horton, the founder of San Diego and a German spy. The home was also used as a hospital for 10 years in which many people died. There are several spirits known to haunt the house including a Victorian woman, a German spy and a young couple.
Old Point Loma Lighthouse
The Old Pointe Loma Lighthouse was built in 1955 and was used by the city for over 36 years. Many visitors take tours of the historical structure and have been known to experience paranormal activity including cold spots, footsteps from upstairs, and sensations of someone standing directly behind them even though no one else is around. According to legend, Captain Robert Decatur Israel who worked as the lighthouse’s last light keeper watches over the light house in death.
The Whaley House is known as one of the most Haunted places in all of America. It is located in Old town San Diego and is visited by thousands of tourists every year. The most noted ghost is that of Violet Whaley who committed suicide after her divorce. There are a few other notable ghosts said to haunt the home including Jim Robinson, Thomas Waley and his wife Anna.
The Horton Grand Hotel was built in 1186 and a gambler named Roger Whitaker among others. The father of Roger’s fiancee, shot and killed him. His body was dumped in a swamp located somewhere near where the current hotel stands. He is known to haunt room 309.
