The cold season has started but this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t venture outside. Vancouver offers a lot of things to do during the Christmas season. Here are some recommendations from EC Vancouver School of English.

Vancouver Christmas Market (Through Dec. 24)

The Christmas Market at Queen Elizabeth Plaza is a real German – styled market. It offers a lot of unique handmade gifts. You can also taste mulled wine, served in a mug and different types of German food. Every night, live bands, choirs and singers perform at the market.

Canyon Lights (Trough Jan. 5)

Thousands of lights decorate the The Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver; additional lights are hung through the forest along the Cliffwalk. There are also other activities to do, like gingerbread-cookie decoration, a carol sing and glass blowing.

Ice Skating at Robson Square (Through Feb. 28)

Do you want to do something more active? Then you should try the ice skating at Robson Square! The ice skating at Robson Square has become one of the must-do activities since reopening for the 2010 Winter Olympics. It is located downtown Vancouver right next to the Vancouver Art Gallery (800 Robson St). If you have your own skates, you don’t need to pay anything, skating is free! (Skate rentals: $4, helmets and ice cleats rentals: $2)

Bright Nights (Through Jan. 5)

The train in Stanley Park is a Christmas tradition that has enthralled young and old for over 20 years. You can see over three million lights during a ride on the Christmas train. Children can also visit the North Pole and see Santa.

There’s a lot to do in Vancouver during the Christmas season, so go ahead and go outdoors!
