Seymour, Grouse or Cypress Mountain

Grouse-MountainThere are three options you can choose from to find your mountain to go skiing or snowboarding in Vancouver. The mountain range north of downtown is formed by – from east to west – Mount Seymour, Grouse Mountain, and Cypress Mountain.

Mount Seymour

Its highest lifted point is 1265m and its lowest skiable point is 935m. Mount Seymour has 3 lifts: 1 quad chairlift (Mystery Peak Express), and 2 double chairlifts (Lodge Chair & Brockton Chair). There is a total of 40 runs plus many acres of off-piste terrain. 13 of them are night runs (including Terrain Parks). Mount Seymour offers a ski area of 200 acres = 81 hectares = 0.81 square kilometres. 40 % is beginner’s terrain, 40 % is intermediate terrain, and 20 % is advanced/ expert terrain.

The ski and snowboard area pass prices for this mountain for 2018/ 2019 are $64 (open-10pm), $48 (2:30pm-10pm), or $35 (5pm-10pm) for adults (19-59). It’s $47 (open-10pm), $39 (2:30pm-10pm), or $30 (5pm-10pm) for youth (13-18). Every Monday to Friday the special price for students (19+) is $45 (open-10pm), $39 (2:30pm-10pm), or $30 (5pm-10pm).

You can also purchase a pass for 3 days called 3Ski pass (prices do not include tax). The 3Ski night (5 pm) pass (age 13+) including 3 evening lift tickets is $109 ($36.33 per day) with rental equipment and $79 ($26.33 per day) without rental equipment. The 3Ski day pass (age 13+) including 3 full-day lift tickets is $199 ($66.33 per day) with rental equipment and $139 ($46.33 per day) without rental equipment.

Grouse Mountain

Grouse Mountain’s highest lifted point is 1231m and its lowest skiable point is 866m. This mountain has 4 lifts: Olympic Express High-Speed Quad Chair, Peak Quad Chair, Screaming Eagle High-Speed Quad Chair, and Greenway Quad Chair. There are 33 runs, 13 of them are night runs. Grouse Mountain’s ski area is made up of 213 acres = 86 hectares = 0.86 square kilometres. 4 slopes are easy (17 % beginner), 16 are more difficult (54 % intermediate), there are 10 most difficult slopes (21 % advanced), and 3 for experts only (8 % expert).

Just like the other mountains Grouse Mountain also offers ski and snowboard lift tickets for day or night time for 2018/ 2019. A snow lift full day ticket from 9am to 10pm is $69 for adults (19-64) and $49 for youth (13-18). A night snow lift ticket from 4pm to 10pm is $49 for adults (19-64) and $40 for youth (13-18). The 3-day plus pass is $169 ($56.33 per day) for adults (19-64 years) and $119 ($39.66 per day) for youth (13-18 years).

Cypress Mountain

The highest lifted point for Cypress Mountain is 1440m and its lowest skiable point is 824m. Cypress Mountain has 6 lifts: Eagle Express, Lions Express, Easy Rider, Sky Chair, Raven Ridge, and Midway Chair. There are 61 runs in Cypress Mountain’s ski area of 593 acres = 240 hectares= 2.4 square kilometres. You will find 13 of the slopes around Eagle Express, 24 around Lions Express, 1 at Easy Rider, 6 around Sky Chair, 13 around Raven Ridge, and 4 at Midway Chair.

2018/ 2019 Cypress Mountain opens at 9am and closes at 10pm. The rates for adults (19-64) are $79 (full day: open-close), $67 (afternoon: 2pm-close), or $53 (NiteOwl: 5pm-close). Youth (13-18) prices are $56 (full day: open-close), $51 (afternoon: 2pm-close), or $41 (NiteOwl: 5pm-close). The 2018/ 2019 Sky Card for 3 days is $199 ($66.33 per day) for adults (19-64) and $149 ($49.66 per day) for youth (13-18).
