The assignment for Stella’s Advanced class: take photographs of Boston and use them to create a description of a place or event in the city. Students exercised their creativity, photographic skill, and of course learned English as well, acquiring the vocabulary and expressions they needed to talk about an interesting aspect of Boston. Topics included the skyscrapers of Boston, the Back Bay, a gay rights parade, and the personality of Bostonians.
Nilsa Valderrama, from Panama, made a stunning professional-looking poster (pictured above) about the friendliness of Bostonians, including some great photos of Bostonians helping each other. Bostonians may have a reputation for being serious, but once you get to know us, you’ll realize that we have a lot of compassion and empathy too. Congratulations to Nilsa for a job well done!
