The Fourth of July is a HUGE holiday here in the United States. It is also known as Independence Day because the Declaration of Independence was signed on this very day in 1776 to declare independence from Great Britain. Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbeques, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, and baseball games. There are going to be a number of Fourth of July fireworks celebrations, including the Boston Pops event that is free for the public. There will be fireworks over the Charles River, along with a concert.
If you’re looking for a more historic Independence Day celebration, consider the Boston Harborfest, while you study ESL abroad at EC Boston. It is a full week of events commemorating the history of the United States of America. On July 6th, there is a Chowderfest that begins at 11AM, and goes all day. There are many vendors that sell clam chowder, which is famous in Boston. Hope to see everybody out celebrating!
